Lockdown restrictions have turned kitchens in creative havens! Many are discovering and in some cases, rediscovering the joys of cooking. Most times, food isn’t just fuel for the body, it goes beyond and nourishes the soul. So what if travel is restricted – food has been taking us on a world tour!

With the pandemic triggering the buzz around food, we asked MiraMed Ajubans to show us their Curfew Cuisine. Little did we know that we were in for a gastronomical fiesta! With cooking experiments and Food Photography being the trend of the season, our Vinayaka Chathurthi-special Food Contest was a colossal hit!

We received restaurant-grade entries of various cuisines. Delicious-looking Rainbow cakes, Brownies, Kitkat Cakes, Mouth-watering Kozhukattai platters, some really appetizing Italian and Chinese dishes, these are just some of the scrumptious-looking dishes we received for the contest. So much effort had gone into each dish that picking out a winner had become a humongous task for our judges. With great thought and after some difficult deliberations, winners were chosen and exciting prizes were given! The winners were chosen based on the complexity of the dish, effort put behind the making, creativity of presentation and quality of photography.

Our food reflects our rich culture – it is a story-teller, of sorts! And with food stories that we got to see, one thing is for sure – Food is Life! On a serious note, food has been a comforting source of entertainment, hope and companionship during these difficult times. We are grateful to be among the privileged ones who have been able to enjoy this blessing and share it with the world.
