Growing Along with the Children that Planted Them International Day of Forestry – 2018

The origin of a child is a mother and the origin of a newer, greener and a brighter Mother Earth is a Child. And the very focus of our International Day of Forestry.

MiraMed Ajuba, in association with Greenpeace, conducted a Tree Seed Dumpling making workshop for our employees. A simple, non-tilling, minimal-effort, tree plantation methodology that can go a long way in enhancing the green cover of our beloved city.

Tiny hands joined in! Children of our employees participated enthusiastically, baffling us with their passion and knowledge for the environment. We sat in awe, our attention rapt, as these kids belted out gyan on forestation, organic humus, plantation techniques etc. Volunteers from Greenpeace bowed down to our little geniuses!

The thousands of Tree Seed Dumplings that were made at the workshop will be distributed among all our employees who will just have to throw them around. Not around concrete, of course! Within years, these trees will stand tall speaking testimonies of their genesis at the loving hands of a responsible citizen.

For those just tuning in now, Seed Dumplings of trees of your choice can be made by mixing those seeds with Red soil (semmannu) and manure and making it into a ball. The mud and manure safeguard the seed from flying away, making it sturdy. When thrown on soil, they can germinate and become flourishing trees.

Planting a tree is like giving life. After all, the true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.
